Litigation initiated by Stanford University's student newspaper, The Stanford Daily, and affected students, challenged the federal government's targeting of legally present noncitizens for deportation solely for supporting Palestine or criticizing Israel. The federal judge found that the government's action violated the First Amendment because it caused international students to censor protected speech.
