Our Documentary Role

Everyday Patriots in Action gathers published accounts of these peaceful civic activities to illustrate how ordinary people are engaging, responding, and making a difference. Our role is documentary: to organize and contextualize existing journalism to help the public better understand how civic participation functions in practice.

High School Students Hold Walkout to Support Peer Students from Another School after Racist Incidents

In a walkout organized by their classmates, dozens of high school students walked out of classes peacefully, denounced reported racist conduct by members of their school community and supported students at a neighboring predominantly Black school that were reportedly the victims of the racist comments. Parents also appeared in solidarity and called for action by administrators and the school board to address the incidents.

A local busload of "mothers and others" joined a rally of about 300 near a rural ICE detention facility to support the non-criminal immigrants detained there; participants traveled by bus from other parts of the state, while advocates pursued legal action and detainee-support efforts.
